Matt is a Research Analyst Fellow in the Governor's Office of Planning and Budget. He recently graduated with a master's in City and Metropolitan Planning from the University of Utah, specializing in Smart Growth: Land Use, Transportation, and Accessibility. He holds a bachelor's degree in business from Westminster College.

While pursuing his master's, he helped launch a community-oriented class, the Wasatch Transportation Academy (WTA), to help residents of the Wasatch Front learn and get involved in local transportation planning. He also worked alongside fellow graduate students to produce Thriving in Place, a comprehensive plan to challenge housing precarity in Salt Lake City.

Prior his role at GOPB, he worked as a graduate research and teaching assistant. His research efforts into the current state of planning academies facilitated an academic paper, Transportation Academies as Catalysts for Civic Engagement in Transportation Decision-Making, which he co-authored with his colleagues.

Matt grew up in New Hampshire and has lived in Utah for nearly 15 years, initially drawn to the state by its unparalleled recreation access. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening, riding bikes, running rivers, and enjoying everything Utah offers with his friends and partner.
